Sometimes it feels like it's you against the world and it's not always the case.
So, can loneliness kill you?
Well, according to the internet and research the answer is Yes. Which may seem shocking and quite frankly it is.
Loneliness affects many people at various stages in their lives. It could be during teenage years, when we don’t feel like we fit in. When we are in our 20s struggling to get on with our careers and working all hours, not really making any friends, just grafting. It could be when a significant change has happened and the overwhelming feeling is that no one but you understands. Or it could simply be that living in isolation is contributing to loneliness. There are many more examples but it really is an individual experience.
Loneliness v Alone (isolation)
The way I describe this is as follows:
Being alone is being by yourself in any environment. So no other souls around, well maybe a pet or two.
Loneliness is when you could be in a room full of people and you feel alone, like there is a vacuum, where a sense of belonging is lost. There is numbness to it and it is exhausting.
How coaching can help
So loneliness can come from a lack of connection to self. There are amazing tools and techniques that a qualified coach can take you through and help connect you to your purpose and gain more perspective about self and develop a better understanding of who you are and what you want to do with your life.
